Councilmember Pine responds to Ozawa Djou Endorsement

Councilmember Kymberly Marcos Pine issued the following statement in response to Councilmember Trevor’s Ozawa’s comments regarding Mayor Kirk Caldwell:

“I am deeply saddened and appalled by the statements made today by Councilmember Trevor Ozawa, who continues to claim that Mayor Kirk Caldwell refuses to meet with City Council members. Every council member is well aware that the mayor has an open door policy since coming into office in January 2013, and will meet or speak with any council member at any time. I have personally witnessed the valiant efforts the mayor has made to work with council members on a number of issues.  Sadly, some council members have other political motives.

I find it ironic that Councilmember Ozawa claims that the mayor refuses to meet with him, when in fact it’s Ozawa who refuses to meet with certain people. He continues to refuse my outreach to discuss the Haseko Zoning issue that has divided my district and instead has made time to meet with the developer, while promoting this company’s agenda.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell is a kind and honest man, and I cannot remain silent as I watch lies being told about a good man who has been a great mayor for the people of the City and County of Honolulu.”

Councilmember Kymberly Marcos Pine represents residents of District One (ʻEwa, ʻEwa Beach, Kapolei, Honokai Hale, Ko ʻOlina, Nanakuli, Maili, Waiʻanae, Makaha, Keaau, Makua).
